Welcome to Day 1! We're thrilled to have you join us. Before we dive into the details of 30x30, let us remind ourselves of how special the ocean truly is, and what it does for us.

Watch this short inspirational video by the National Geographic. Apart from the mesmerising visuals of marine life, you will gain insight into some of the ways in which humans are affecting the ocean on a massive scale, and hear world leaders talk about a challenging but proven way to turn this around: Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).

<aside> ‼️ As rightly stated in the video, climate change is a global issue and requires all of humanity to unite in the fight against it. While numerous organisations in India are working phenomenally to tackle climate change, it is not too often that the ocean takes centre stage, even though it covers 70% of the Earth's surface and has been absorbing most of its effects. Life in the ocean has evolved to thrive in a relatively stable chemistry and temperature range for thousands of years. Even the slightest changes can cause enormous stress! Climate change's impact on the ocean also affects us because of our intertwined relationship. Check out the resources below to understand how!

After going through these resources... If you're beginning to panic, please don't fret! Hope is not lost yet. It turns out that the ocean is actually one of our most promising solutions to mitigate climate change, while also delivering economic and cultural benefits! All we need to do is to evolve our relationship with the ocean by committing to protect it and allowing it to protect us in turn! Here's a brief article that describes why:
